Michele Wheeler receives the 2022 Calgary AA Ringette Service Award

Congratulations to Michele Wheeler, the recipient of the 2022 Calgary AA Ringette Service Award! This award recognizes individuals who contribute outstanding service and dedication to the AA program and to the sport of ringette. Michele is a deserving honouree with an unwavering passion and commitment to Calgary AA and the broader ringette community.

Michele has been an integral part of Calgary AA Ringette for the past 8 seasons, providing leadership and enthusiasm, and ensuring that the critical work gets done behind the scenes so the athletes can play the game they love. In 2014, Michele started as a team manager and also volunteered on the host committee for the Western Canadian Ringette Championships. Soon after, she joined the Calgary AA Board as the VP of Operations for 4 consecutive years. Michele then added to her already busy schedule, a term as a Director on the Ringette Alberta Board, strengthening the sport of ringette in communities across the province.

Among many other volunteer roles, Michele has coordinated host duties for the “Ring It On” tournament, has been a division coordinator for evaluations, and most recently, took on the monumental task of chairing the 2022 Canadian Ringette Championships. After two long years without Nationals, Michele effectively led the charge of “Bringing Back the Energy” to Calgary!
