Lauren Chown receives the 2022 Jenna Sauer Spirit in Coaching Award

The Jenna Sauer award is presented annually to a recipient that exemplifies Jenna’s unforgettable enthusiasm, grit, determination, and love of coaching ringette. This year, Leigh, Kelli, and Lilli Sauer are honoured to present this award to a very dedicated and deserving coach, Lauren Chown.

Lauren has played and volunteered as a coach for many years with the Calgary AA Ringette association at every level from U14 to U19. She also coached with the Zone 3 Alberta Winter Games’ team in 2020 and had the chance to coach Jenna personally in the NW Calgary Ringette association 7 years ago.

Affectionately known to players and coaches as “Chown”, Lauren currently plays with the 2022 NRL Champions, Calgary RATH. When fans come to watch the RATH play, they’ll see the energy and intensity that Lauren brings on the ice, pushing herself to be better on every shift.

As a coach, Lauren mentors young athletes to focus on teamwork and sportsmanship in addition to developing their ringette skills and game strategies. She adds a great balance of fun and competitive spirit to every team she coaches.
